Feb 09 - Aug 09
It has been 11 months since my last post and what a crazy 12 months it has been ...
i was on the Diamox until mid Feb 09 when i forgot to take them for a week when i went to Melb and by the 3rd day my headache had started to ease off ... i got home and started taking them again and within a few days my headaches had returned ... a week later i went off them again for a week and my headaches went away again.. so i took myself off them and had about 12 weeks of bliss .. only very mild headaches and no yucky side effects ..
then all of a sudden my headaches/ migraines came back with a vengeance .. so back to my neurosurgeon who proscribed a series of lumbar punctures every 4 weeks to relieve the spinal fluid from my brain. During the next 7 months i had pressure between 28 & 48 mostly around the 33 .
They progressively got worse and the time between LP's was shortening and my pressure was building up very quickly with a few days after a lumber puncture i could feel i had a high pressure head ache again ...
i am very fortunate to be able to get them done at a Private clinic and get it done under CT Guidance .. i pay the difference of $200 and Medicare cover the rest .. having it done with a CT means that the needle is guided in and this reduces the amount of pain as they get it in first time 95% of the time and they don’t hit the bones in my spine and reduces them hitting nerves ... it is so much nicer experience getting a CT LP .. and i am very grateful that i can afford to pay the $200 a month to have it done .. as i know many other woman don’t have that and have to go through the poking style of trying to have one .. i experienced this for 90 mins once and vowed never to get a LP with Guidance ever again..

This is the video of my spinal fluid dripping out,
Yesterday i had a pressure reading of 33 and they took 12ml out.
3 weeks ago i had a pressure of 48 and they took 28 ml out ..
it is all a balancing game trying to keep my levels at the right pressure... but 33 is still way to high ... and i still have a headache everday.... i didnt have one yesterday after the LP but it is back this morning at about a 5/10 it is not really painful but i can feel it is there...
